Benefits of swapping events to environment:


    In a clothing swap , participants exchange their valued but no longer used clothing in exchange of clothing they will use. Clothing swaps originated in 1994 in San Francisco California with events hosted by Suzanne Agasi. 
    The high resource intensity of clothing production makes it the primary source of environmental degradation in the clothing life cycle , with particularly heavy environmental impacts from voluminous use of energy, water and chemicals. The volume of freshwater consumed by the fashion industry is nearly 79 million cubic meters, enough to fill nearly 32 Olympic size swimming pools.
    According to the researchers the planet is already beyond it's safe operating space in terms of climate change, waste pollution, changes in land use, and biochemical output.  
    These are few statistics and technicalities which apparel manufacturers need to pay attention to. But we as a consumer can also make a huge difference by participating in simple events like clothe swapping. 
    We all have so many clothes that we don't feel belong to the current trend anymore but those clothes may be of use to someone else. Many times our taste varies from time to time, the clothes in our wardrobe which were once of our choice no longer seem to be of our interests anymore. So in such times we either make it a cleaning clothe or we just end up making bundles of them and keep them somewhere safe which we have no idea when will we take them out.  
    Clothe swapping event is a perfect way to get rid of those clothes and not just help someone but also in return you get something of your choice which may be no longer of use to someone else but is appropriate to you choice.
    So, as a consumer we can't go to industries and make changes but by participating in such events we can make a whole lot of difference.
